May 9th - Au Pair Interlude

Charlie was in a particularly rambunctious mood this Sunday, and he decided to take photos on my phone. I thought i'd share them with you.

May 4th & 6th - British Library and Hyde Park

I had done some research, which was just me googling "cutest cafes in london" and had found one relatively close to the British Library and decided that that was where I would start my day off! I had gotten the boys to school that morning, and took the tube to Kings Cross St Pancras, where I was greeted with this gorgeous view of St Pancras station. I don't think i'll ever be bored of this city. I then went to a cafe called Drink Shop Do, which is a cafe, bar, and craft market all at once! It's got some beautiful art that was on the walls and for sale, and the calendar of events looked very interesting! I bought myself a hot chocolate because I was in the mood for it, and sat down. Something i've noticed about London is that everything is lit by natural lighting. They love it here and so do I. Everywhere that there can be a window, there is. And then it was off to the British Library. I wasn't willing to shell out the 20 quid to get into the ...

May 1st - Don Juan in Soho

Today was a bank holiday, so another day off for me, which meant another show! I had gotten a really inexpensive ticket to see David Tennant, of Doctor Who fame, in a play called Don Juan in Soho. I had no idea what the play was about, and no real knowledge of the Don Juan stories, but I was excited nonetheless. The theatre was in Soho, and was right next to Leicester Square, so I made a list of a few places I wanted to go to, mainly bookshops and cafes, and set off on my way!  My first stop was at the Wyndham Theatre to pick up my tickets from the box office, and then I went to Watkins books. It's one of the oldest and most famous occult bookstores in London, offering tarot readings and lessons, and selling a huge selection of Tarot, crystal, witchcraft, Pagan, and religious literature. It was really interesting to bop around and see all of the different things they sell and get to chat to one of the ladies who works there. Then I headed off to the Foyles on Tottenham Court Ro...

April 30th - Country Club

This will be a very quick post, but we went to the country club today! We went to a club in Epsom, and started out our day by having some lunch in the child friendly restaurant. It was a bit loud, and I was warned that the service wouldn't be that great, and they were right, but the food was still good. I had a burger, and then we headed over to the gym for a workout that was much needed. I haven't been running and haven't done any weights since I left school, and I really need to get back into the habit of exercising. But, I am walking a minimum of 5km a day, most of which i'm also pushing a 2 year old in a stroller. So things will even out. After I went to the gym, I took the boys on a bear hunt. We went wandering through the forest, looking for bears, and during that time, I told them about fairy rings, and how if you say you don't believe in fairies, a fairy will lose her wings. They thought that it was very cool that I knew so much about bears and fairies, an...

April 29th - Museum of London & Big Ben

I stayed south of the Thames for the rest of the week after I went to 221B, and this weekend I went back into the city to do one of my favourite things - go to a museum. Nat, my host mum, recommended the Museum of London, which documents the city from the stone ages to the present, and I thought that it would be a perfect thing to do this weekend. My first weekend in London, I should probably do my research on the city. So I took the Tube in (I love the underground -- have I mentioned this?? I love it so much. I've been listening to a lot of A Chorus Line  on the Tube, and I don't know why but I just love it), and went! Also, all the museums in London are free. Well, most of them. But this was free, yay! My favourite time period is the English Renaissance, and while it was really interesting to see all of the Roman artifacts and the Stone Age things, I loved getting to see the art and the artifacts from the 1600s. I didn't take too many photos, but I did get to see some...
